About Us
Art Making in the Park!
The 3rd annual CREATE! Arts Festival is a two-day, fun and interactive art-making event this summer, bringing together local artists and the community to explore, learn, and create outdoors in Strathcona Park, a beautiful outdoor space, and in Eastside art studios. Attendees of all ages and abilities will learn how to create visual art such as print making, glass fusing, ceramics and painting, as well as explore performing arts such as Salish singing and story-telling in ticketed workshops taught by Eastside artists in a beautiful outdoor space this summer. Attendees also get to enjoy our Arts Zone featuring public participation art, art demos, our Festival Art Shop, a selection of food trucks and a full licensed site with beer, cider and wine from Strange Fellows Brewing.
The Create! Arts Festival is brought to you by the Eastside Arts Society, producers of the Eastside Culture Crawl.
Workshops & Art Zone
The festival consists of ticketed Art Making Workshops taught by Eastside artists over two days. On Saturday, July 22 workshops take place in Strathcona Park (entrance on Raymur Avenue) and on Sunday, July 23, 2023 moving indoors to various Eastside art studios including Mergatroid Building, Terminal City Glass Co-op, and 1000 Parker.
Each participant will create something they can take home or that can be picked up later after firing. Some examples of what participants will learn to make or perform are: a clay vessel, indigo textile dyeing, printmaking, natural ink making, Salish singing or ukulele. Tickets are $35 + GST per workshop ($20 + GST for the Kids Workshops) and includes access to our Art Zone (Saturday only). Please see the event listings for complete details.
Also on Saturday, July 22nd at Strathcona Park is our Art Zone which will feature our Festival Art Shop, public participation art, art demos, food trucks and a fully licensed site with beer, cider and wine from Strange Fellows Brewing! General Admission Art Zone tickets are only $5 + GST – kids under 12 are free.

- Collaborate on group art projects such as giant puppets or squeegee art.
- Explore how glass beads and ceramics are made through artist demos, or take home hand-made artworks and goods from our Festival Art Shop.

Create! Art Zone!
Create! features an Art Zone with public art activities and demonstrations, licensed beer, wine and cider service by Strange Fellows Brewing, a great selection of food trucks, and an Art Market! Come and spend the day on site! General Admission tickets to the site will be on sale soon, and children 12 and under are free which includes access to the Art Zone (does not include any workshops).

The CREATE! Arts Festival deepens the connection between the public and artists in the Eastside Arts District by creating a meaningful cultural exchange; it provides capacity building opportunities for artists by providing a platform to share their knowledge and expertise. Our event connects and engages communities, serving to forge a sense of belonging through the exploration and creation of visual and performing art.
